Informal writingEdit

Hello, please read over MarioWiki:Manual of Style and MarioWiki:Good writing, as most of your edits consist of very informal and non-encyclopedic writing, subjective writing / writing based on opinion and not on fact (like saying Toad's Pants is "an example" of the series' humour and the Impossible Pack being the hardest ever Nintendo levels), and weasel wording ("most people believe that it did not to well"; "some experts can't even complete the pack"). Additionally, don't use the word "you" on articles; we write in third-person, so you have to use "the player" or the character's name instead.   Mario JC 04:49, March 31, 2022 (EDT)

UploadsEdit

Hello, MikeandCarl. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:

Images Audio/video files

When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the {{aboutfile}} template, replacing the {{uncategorized}} template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use:

[[Category:Super Mario World images]]
or
[[Category:Super Mario World media files]]

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Hello, MikeandCarl. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must apply the proper license. A full list of licenses can be found in the file copyright tags category, but the following are the most common:

  • {{photo}} - Used for photographs of real-life subjects.
  • {{art}} - Used for artwork of something that is not a character.
  • {{comic-scene}} - Used for scans of a comic.
  • {{comic-cover}} - Used for covers of comic books.
  • {{tv-screenshot}} - Used for screenshots of television shows.
  • {{film-screenshot}} - Used for screenshots of movies.
  • {{video-screenshot}} - Used for other screenshots, such as those from YouTube.

When uploading, select the license from the drop-down box below the summary text box, or add the license manually after uploading or if you're using the upload function from the text editor. For example, artwork of Mario would use {{character-artwork}}.

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Don't include multiple copyright templates; choose the one that you feel best fits the file. If you continue uploading files without applying the correct license, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Also, the images you uploaded were duplicates and already exist on Baddie Block (as is the information on Wood Blocks themselves), so be sure to check related articles, game galleries and image categories to avoid accidentally uploading redundant images.

Again, please read the Manual of Style the next time you create an article. Your article was missing proper formatting (italics are for game titles, not the name of the article subject), navigation templates and categories before it was fixed for you, and links to articles on this wiki don't need the URL, just the article title inside double square brackets.   Mario JC 12:06, April 4, 2022 (EDT)

Previewing editsEdit

Hello, MikeandCarl. When editing, if you'd like to see how your edits affect a page, use the "Show preview" button next to the "Save changes" button. This allows you to check over your edits for any errors and make any additional changes or fixes before you save, which will prevent edits from flooding the page history and recent changes. (If you are on mobile, make sure to check the preview page thoroughly before proceeding to save.) Please try to avoid making excessive, consecutive edits to a single page within a short timespan and instead limit them to as few as possible.

Use this function instead of making an edit and reverting it, otherwise this floods the history page with edits. Help:Image may also help (you don't need "thumb" for infobox images). Regarding the image itself, where did you get it from? The game doesn't use a black border for the Moon Coin's icon.   Mario JC 00:14, May 5, 2023 (EDT)

Reiterating my summary on the file page, if whatever you're uploading is completely different from the original image (e.g. yours is an icon while the original is the in-game model), it should be uploaded separately through Special:Upload, not as a new version.   Mario JC 04:00, May 6, 2023 (EDT)

Also please avoid upscaling the image as we don't cover fan edits. It'd be great if you can upload in the original size.
