Bonus Stage (Wrecking Crew series)

The fourth Bonus Stage
The fourth Bonus Stage in Wrecking Crew.

Bonus Stages, also known as bonus phases[1] and bonus levels,[2] are minigames from VS. Wrecking Crew and Wrecking Crew, in which the player has to find a coin by breaking walls that are placed on a platform with a ladder leading to it. The score is calculated by the remaining time. Upon finding the coin in the very first wall, the player receives 10,000 points.

In VS. Wrecking Crew, Bonus Stages happen after every two phases and contain fourteen walls. In two player mode, both players start at the bottom of the stage and compete against each other to find the coin first. In single player mode, Mario just needs to find it before the time runs out.

In Wrecking Crew, Bonus Stages appear after completing the phases that are multiples of four. The player and Foreman Spike start at the bottom and have to compete against each other to find the coin among the sixteen walls.
