The Dark Depths & the Swirling Currents is a level in Princess Peach: Showtime!, located on the right on the bottom part of the basement of the Sparkle Theater. This stage becomes available after Blight of the Sea has been completed. It is the third level where the Mermaid transformation is used.
Layout[edit]
The level starts out with a strong backwind current towards Peach, although she can stand still in the current. A group of whirlpools are seen in the background.
Large clamshells walk by in the background, and Peach has to start out by recruiting a school of five fish, and then have the fish open yellow floating clams where fish are inside, to end up with 15 fish.
The clams walk by in groups of two, and Mermaid Sparkla is in the second one. As the two of them make an attempt to swim off, the currents get stronger, and both Peach and Mermaid Sparkla begins floating slightly backwards if they stay still.
With the current getting steadily worse, Mermaid Sparkla invites Peach to sing a duet, to encourage nearby sea turtles and fish. As the fish bounce back and forth between the two singers, the whirlpools calm down, and the problems go away.
Sparkle Gems[edit]
- Found in a sub-area at the first section of the stage. Mermaid Peach must strike a pose to access the sub-area. To obtain the Sparkle Gem, Mermaid Peach must guide fish to open the glowing clam containing the Gem.
- Reach the section where Mermaid Sparkla is saved from the clamshell.
- Beneath one of the floating snail-shaped pieces in the heavy-current section.
- Make all fish in the duet concert glow.
- Completing the concert.
Ribboner[edit]
Ribboner awards the Multicolored Mermaid Ribbon for Stella. He is trapped in a clam at the start of the stage, and will award Peach Ribbon after he is freed.
Lobby Shop stock[edit]
Completing the level, allows Peach to buy the Special Mermaid Dress for 300 coins at the Lobby Shop.
