When "READY" appears, the player can hold down the R or ZR button to charge power to allow them to perform a faster start. When "GO" appears, the player can press the A Button to push off from the starting blocks, with good timing triggering a speed boost. To speed up, the player must rapidly press the A button, and when prompted, can use their super dash by pressing R for a short speed boost.
