A Hogwash.

The Hogwash are a species of flying pigs that only appear in the game Donkey Kong Land. Hogwashes are notable for being one of the few enemies who appeared in the Donkey Kong Land series but not the Donkey Kong Country series.

In the game, Hogwashes were used by the Kremling Krew during their re-conquest of Donkey Kong Island. Hogwashes were basic air-grunts, roaming the skies for intruders. They normally flew back and forth or in one direction. However, a Hogwash was not a significant threat as a simple Jump attack was enough to defeat one. They have not appeared since.

Hogwashes provided the same function as the Necky and Flitter enemies from other Donkey Kong games.

Trivia

  • Hogwash’s name comes from the word “hogwash”, meaning nonsense or bunk. In addition, the term “when pigs fly” refers to an event that could never possibly happen. Put these two terms together and you get Hogwash, a flying pig.
