Template:Character-infobox Cheese is a Chao with a red bow tie that often accompanies Cream who makes several crossover appearances in the Mario franchise. Cheese frequently makes cameo appearances as part of collectables in the Super Smash Bros. series, while in the Mario & Sonic series, Cheese usually appears in supporting roles.

History

Super Smash Bros. series

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Cheese makes his first crossover appearance with the Mario franchise in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, where he appears on Cream's trophy and is mentioned in the description, as well as appearing on a sticker with Cream that increases electricity resistance.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U

Cheese appears as part of a trophy with Cream again in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U. Cheese is also mentioned in the British English description for the Chao trophy.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Cheese appears as part of a spirit with Cream that increases the player's jump. In the spirit battle, Cheese is represented by a Squirtle with low gravity and takes less damage in the air.

Mario & Sonic series

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games

In the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Cheese appears for the introduction, results and standings for London Party.

In the Nintendo 3DS version, Cheese appears in the Story Mode episode A Rainbow In Fog, where he is attacked by several Fog Imposters in the Main Stadium. He is later saved by Mario, Luigi, Sonic and Tails when they defeat the imposters, and remains at the stadium. Cheese is also mentioned in Cream's badge description.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020

Cheese makes a minor appearance in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, where he wears a special Tokyo 2020-themed outfit and appears clapping at the medal ceremony in Quick Match mode. The Japanese overview trailer included footage that suggested that Cheese was going to have a role in the game's Story Mode, though Cheese does not appear in it in the final game.
