Template:Articleabout Template:Level Web Woods is the twenty-seventh level of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. It is also the fifth area of Gloomy Gulch.

Set in a foggy forest, the Kongs transform into Squitter for almost the entire level, which is fortunate, as the web platforms he creates are necessary for crossing many huge chasms. Zingers, Krunchas, Kutlass, Kabooms, Kannons, Kaboings, Krooks, Neeks and Mini-Neckys all live here and try to harm Squitter, but most of them can be defeated by his web projectiles. This level is also the second and last level to have a DK Coin as the prize from the End of Level Target.

Level layout

Diddy stands on the edge of a ledge.

The level begins next to a few stair-like platforms with Neeks creeping along them. A DK Barrel shakes at the top of the stairs near a high piece of land. The Kongs can optionally climb up to this piece of land to find a crate and a treasure chest containing an item. They also find a pair of Krunchas and a Kutlass here. A raised piece of land stands behind the area with the Kutlass, holding a Banana Coin. The letter K sits in front of it. If the Kongs do not choose to climb up to the raised area found after the previously mentioned DK Barrel, they can continue along the path to find two Kutlass enemies. One of these foes is on a piece of land at a higher elevation. After climbing up a few stair-like platforms from here, the heroes head along a straight pathway to a Neek. A lower area with a large hill to the right of it is ahead. The Kongs must move around the hill by traveling along the path to the left, which leads them slightly closer to the foreground. A small ledge is shortly after this path that drops the heroes to another pathway with several Neeks marching along it. The path leads around the tall hill to a slightly raised piece of land with a Zinger on it. A TNT Barrel rests next to the enemy, and a Kaboom hides in it.

Squitter stands on a web platform.

If the primates pass the wasp, they can find a passage in the side of a wall that takes them into a small, valley-like area with an Animal Barrel in it, which turns them into Squitter when entered. A DK Barrel floats above the Animal Barrel. At this point, Squitter must enter another passage in the side of a wall. The passage takes him into an open area. A gap is at the beginning of this area with a Zinger floating in it. A Banana Bunch also hovers in the gap. Farther ahead, a raised piece of land can be seen with a Zinger on top of it. A Kutlass waits for the spider at the bottom of the hill. Using his webs to climb the hill allows Squitter to reach a pathway with several stairs on it. Kaboings bounce all the way up the stairs. A wide abyss can be found to the right of here with a few Zingers flying throughout it. Two Zingers guard a DK Barrel at the top of a hill that follows this gap. A smaller abyss can be discovered after the tall hill. A lone Kloak stands on a pillar-shaped platform on the other side of the gap. Another gap follows the pillar, and a thin platform is on the other side of it. Zingers form a wall near here above another abyss. A large piece of land is located on the opposite side of it. There, Squitter can find a tall hill in the background with a Kaboing on it. A DK Barrel and a Star Barrel wait in front of the hill.

If the spider continues, he reaches another wall of Zingers who float above a wide gap. If the arachnid passes the enemies and travels over the gap, he comes up to a few bananas and the letter O. Two more walls of Zingers also stand in his way as he travels, and the second group of them moves in a vertical motion. A few more pillar-like platforms are on the other side of the abyss. As the spider travels along them, Mini Neckies attack him. Soon, Squitter can find a larger gap ahead of him. A Kloak stands on the thin platform on the opposite side of the gap. Two more gaps are ahead with higher, thin platforms on the other sides of them. Kannons stand on the two platforms following the gaps. A smaller pit is after the second Kannon with the letter N in it. Some steep, stair-like structures are located on the other side of it, and Mini Neckies swoop down at the hero as he makes his way down them. The foes continue to attack him as he cross a large gap nearby. A rather large platform can be found on the other side of the abyss with a Kannon on it. Red and yellow Zingers float in the gap ahead of here. Most of them are stationary, but others move in a circular or vertical path. A hill is on the other side of the gap. As soon as the spider drops down it, a Kaboing jumps out at him from a higher hill in the background. A second hill is after here with another Kaboing on it. A Kannon also shoots at the hero as he progresses along this pathway. A small gap follows here, and once it is crossed, Squitter can find a No Animal Sign. If he crosses it, he is transformed back into the Kongs, who can find the End of Level Target nearby. The level is completed when they hit it. Additionally, a prize can be won from it if they shoot to it from a nearby barrel.

Secrets

K-O-N-G Letters

  • K: The letter K is on the raised piece of land behind the first DK Barrel. It is located near a Kutlass.
  • O: Squitter comes up to the letter O in the first abyss from the Star Barrel.
  • N: The letter N floats in the gap after the second Kannon.
  • G: The letter G is awarded to the Kongs when they pass the No Animal Sign with Squitter.

Bonus Levels

Squitter travels through the first Bonus Level.
  • After Squitter crosses a large abyss, which has several Mini Neckies swooping at him and a group of bananas in the shape of an arrow, he can find a nearby Kannon shooting kannonballs. He must wait a while to notice that the Kannon has shot a kannonball that is traveling at a speed slower than usual. The spider should follow this ball back over the wide abyss. Eventually, he reaches land, where he can see the kannonball ram into a wall, breaking it. If he walks into the new passage, he is lead to a Bonus Level. Here, he must create webs to get over the sharp brambles around him. Squitter needs to be careful when he jumps, as he is in a tight space, and can easily bounce right into the above brambles. When he gets to the end of the stage, a Kremkoin appears. He has 30 seconds to find and collect this coin.
  • After crossing an abyss near the end of the level, another formation of bananas creating an arrow, which points to a wall, can be discovered. Squitter should continue forward from here, where he can see a fast moving kannonball shot from a nearby Kannon. He must follow the ball back to the wall seen before. If he is able to keep up with it, the kannonball hits and breaks through the wall, creating an entryway to go through. If the spider enters it, he appears in a Bonus Level, where he must collect 30 stars that create the shape of the Rareware logo. The stars are located above a pit, so the arachnid must use his web platforms to collect them all. Once they are all obtained, a Kremkoin appears on the other side of the pit. The spider is given only 20 seconds to grab all of the stars and claim the Kremkoin.

DK Coin

  • The DK Coin is one of the prizes given at the End of Level Target. With precise timing, the Kongs should hit the target by shooting through a barrel. If hit at the right time, they earn the special item.

Golden Feather (Game Boy Advance version only)

  • In the level's last large abyss, Squitter should find a Zinger that is circling a Banana Coin. From this point, he should build his webs and travel downwards. When he travels down to the bottom corner, he can uncover a Golden Feather.

Photograph (Game Boy Advance version only)

  • Near the beginning of the level, the heroes find a Neek with a camera icon over its head. If they defeat it, they are given the photograph of a Neek to put in the first page of their scrapbook.
