Electroid (enemy)
Template:Species-infobox Electroids are enemies which appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. They resemble encaged spheres of purple electric matter and sport two eyes. Electroids can be seen levitating in mid-air, usually forming electrical bonds between members of the same species. This leads to the creation of dangerous plasma barriers, which would be harmful to pass.
Electroids are only present in the Factory area of Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, and later return in only one level of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. In the former, they move near holes and narrow tunnels that the Kongs must pass. In Switcheroo, some Electroids hover in front of reversible walls initially seen in the background. The enemies can be pushed over and eliminated if the said walls are extended out of their slots. Otherwise, Electroids are invincible, and will drain one heart from the Kongs' health meter upon contact with the primates.
Electroids might represent the spiritual successors of the Sparks from Donkey Kong Jr.; as electric entities with dot-like cartoony eyes, they can also be visually compared to Li'l Sparkies or Hot Heads from the Mario franchise.
