Template:LevelboxDKL2 Bramble Scramble is the nineteenth level of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, as well as the twentieth level of Donkey Kong Land 2, a similar game for the Game Boy system. It is the third area of Krazy Kremland in Donkey Kong Country 2, and the fifth area of the same world in Donkey Kong Land 2.

This is the second bramble level of the games, which is strangely located in the amusement park, Krazy Kremland. Here, Diddy and Dixie Kong must climb vine and use the help of the Animal Buddy, Squawks, to progress. Squitter, found in this level only in Donkey Kong Country 2, can also be found in a hidden area of the level. Sharp brambles trace the outside of the area, and one touch of them can cause one of the two Kongs to run away. Several enemies also lurk around this level, including Krooks, Kannons, Kloaks, Zingers, Flitters, Click-Clacks, and Mini Neckies.

The level begins.

At the beginning of the level, the Kongs must walk down a wooden path and jump over the brambles to reach a horizontal vine. On the way to the vine, they encounter a Krook and a DK Barrel. A hidden area is behind the entrance to the level, and it contains a Barrel Cannon, the letter K, a Banana Bunch, and, in the Game Boy Advance version of the game, a Diddy Barrel that can shoot the primates to a photograph. Once the Kongs reach the aforementioned vine, they encounter several Zingers that they must dodge to progress. One of these Zingers guards a Banana Bunch. There is a vertical vine near here that leads up to a Krook in a small alcove, and then up to a wooden platform that holds a Click-Clack. An Invincibility Barrel is hidden high above here, and it can help the heroes journey through a bramble-filled pit located just ahead, which leads to a Bonus Barrel. On the other side of this pit, the heroes can find a trio of spaced-out, wooden platforms that are structured on top of the brambles. A Krook stands between two of these platforms. The third of the three platforms here supports an Animal Crate containing Squawks the Parrot. The Animal Buddy is required to progress north, where there is a wide path among the brambles that they must travel through.

There are Zingers and Flitters in the way, and one of the Zingers blocks an opening leading to a wide area that contains many bananas, a Banana Coin, and a DK Barrel. Once they pass a pair of Zingers, one of which that is red and therefore indestructible at this point of the level, they reach a DK Barrel in a corner. A path among the brambles is below here, and as the primates travel down it, a Krook throws its hook at them. A pair of red, indestructible Zingers also fly in their way as they descent. At the bottom of the area, they can discover more Zingers and Flitters. Some of these Zingers fly together in circles around the wide passage, much like Boo Buddies from Super Mario World. Upon passing these foes, the Kongs approach a Kannon shoots kannonballs below it as it stands in a square-shaped ground of brambles. Some bananas and a Banana Bunch float above the foe, but the area around them is much longer and small than the one below the enemy. After continuing past the Kannon and a lone Zinger, the primates reach an alcove with the letter O in it. If they head north from here, they come past two more Krook enemies, who throw their hooks at the heroes as they pass. The second Krook stands in front of a thin alcove that holds a pair of Banana Coins. A No Animal Sign sits on some wooden boards ahead of here, and once it is reached, Squawks disappears and the Kongs are given a Banana Bunch. The Star Barrel floats in front of a long, vertical vine nearby.

To the right of the vine, there is a set of brambles that can be jumped through to reach a hidden area that contains an Animal Barrel that holds Squitter the Spider and several collectibles, including a DK Coin. At the end of this hidden area, there is a No Animal Sign that causes Squitter to disappear when reached. The Kongs are given an Extra Life Balloon in return. There is an Auto Fire Barrel ahead of the sign that can fire the primates out of the hidden area and to the section of the level that contains the second Animal Crate for Squawks. If the heroes choose not to take the hidden path, they can instead continue up the aforementioned vine to reach a horizontal vine with a DK Barrel under the end of it. A few Mini Neckies attack them as they climb the vine, and a Zinger also surrounds the DK Barrel. To progress, the primates much climb east along the horizontal vine, and, along the way, pass a Kannon that shoots kannonballs from above them. After they climb an additional vertical vine, they reach a long, thin area with a horizontal vine running through it.

A Kannon at the end of the vines shoots kannonballs across the area. A few alcoves are scattered along the passage to be used to the Kongs' advantage in dodging the attacks. They soon meet the Kannon, who they must jump over to reach a separate vine that they can use to hang over some wooden boards with Click-Clacks on them. If the primates manage to climb over the small wall of brambles to the right of here, they make their way down along a trail of bananas and onto an Animal Crate containing another Squawks. The parrot can help them pass a pair of Zingers in their way and fly through the large area located just ahead, which many more Zingers are scattered throughout. All of these Zingers are red, meaning that they cannot be defeated by any of the Kongs' attacks at this point. The letter N floats in the top-right corner of this area, and in the bottom-right corner of it, they can find a passage that holds a DK Barrel. As they continue through the rather wide passage, a few Zingers, most of which that are red, fly in their way. The last two of these Zingers guard a Golden Feather in the Game Boy Advance version of the game.

North of here, they go through a tight, round space, where some more Zingers are flying in circles. They need to tag along behind the enemies, and then exit the area from the opening in the top. Soon, the animals need to go west again, where red and normal Zingers both hover toward them. They should carefully maneuver around these foes, and then dodge a few Mini Neckys. When all these hazardous villains are passed, the heroes must fly north and go around more red Zingers in a tight, round area. When they get through this part, the monkeys and their buddy must move on east. There are some Kloaks throwing several crates at them when they come by, and they can be hard to avoid, therefore, Squawks should use his egg-spitting abilities to defeat them. After this, the parrot and the apes must cross another No Animal Sign and lose their parrot friend. After this, the lone two monkeys must walk along the path and jump down on the Ending Pad.

Donkey Kong Land 2

At the beginning of the level, the Kongs must jump to all the platforms and avoid a Krook. Then, they need to bounce off a Flitter and land on a rope, in which they need to climb up. When they are at the top, they must continue east. There is a Zinger in the way as they go, so they need to drop down to the platform below and go around it. They meet another Zinger right after, but it can be avoided easily if they Kongs move across the ropes when it gets out of the way. Then, the heroes must go down the rope. There are several Zingers in the way as the monkeys go, and they can possibly hit a monkey to make it run away.

Soon, they can get off the rope and walk across a platform. After they defeat the Click-Clack on it, they need to hop into the Animal Barrel. It turns them into Squawks. With the buddy, they should fly upwards between the brambles. There are some Zingers in the way as they go, so they must be cautious. At the top, the monkeys and their parrot friend must continue through the brambles and travel east again. After this part, there are many twists and turns in the path, but the area can easily be navigated through using the brambles, which shape out the right path. As they all move around the sharp brambles, several Zingers and Flitters are buzzing all over the place, and they can be a real hazard if the animals aren't careful. Eventually, they should make it to a platform with a No Animal Sign. It makes Squawks disappear when passed, so the heroes must walk on foot without him. After this, they must jump on the nearby ropes and leap to separate ropes going west. Soon, they should get to a platform with the Star Barrel on it.

Halfway through the level, the heroes must get on more ropes and climb wast. There are even more insects waiting to attack as they move along, so they must continue to be careful. Later, they have to climb down the rope. Again, there are Zingers swarming all around this rope, and they stop at nothing to beat the Kongs. Soon, though, the monkeys should land on a platform with a Click-Clack on it. They must defeat the enemy, and then leap to the following platforms, where they can find another Animal Barrel. It turns them into Squawks, who must fly upwards between all the brambles. Again, there are many twists and turns as they go, as well as several Zingers, who lurk all around the area.

Once they get through that whole part around the brambles, they pass another No Animal Sign, making Squawks disappear. When he is gone, the heroes must cling onto more ropes and climb across them. Zingers and Flitters are floating all around this space, and the monkeys can easily hit into one if they are not careful. Soon, Diddy and Dixie Kong have to climb strait down a single rope, where they must avoid even more foes. Finally, when they reach the bottom, they should see a platform. They need to jump on it and walk along, until they see a spring. It can bounce them out of the level when jumped on.

Secrets

Donkey Kong Country 2

K-O-N-G Letters

  • K: At the beginning of the level the Kongs should jump over the brambles behind them to access a secret area with the letter K.
  • O: A pathway leading upwards to the first No Animal Sign in the level is shortly before the Star Barrel. Before this path is taken, the primates should look in the bottom-left corner of the area to find an alcove with the letter O in it.
  • N: The second time the Kongs find Squawks, they should move ahead into a wide area with many Zingers. The letter N is in the top-right corner of this area.
  • G: The letter G is the prize given when the Kongs pass the second No Animal Sign for Squawks at the end of the level.

Bonus Levels

File:Image165.jpg
Squawks helps the primates complete a Bonus Level.
  • To find the only Bonus Level in Bramble Scramble, the heroes must get to the platform that holds the first Click-Clack in the level. If they use their Team-up move here, they find an Invincibility Barrel. After they break it, they must jump into the first abyss to the right and run through the brambles. Although the surface is sharp, the Invincibility Barrel grants them with temporary invincibility so they can walk on the obstacles. Once they travel along all of the brambles, they make their way into a Barrel Cannon. With it, they can shoot along a nearby path of bananas to land in a Bonus Barrel. The barrel can take them into a Bonus Level, where they must have the aid of Squawks to defeat all the Zingers around the area, and then grab the stars that are behind them. If all 36 stars are collected within 40 seconds, a Kremkoin appears to grab within the remaining time. The Kongs are sent back to the main level empty-handed if they run out of time, hit into a Zinger, or touch the brambles.

DK Coin

  • After the primates find the vine with the Star Barrel in front of it, they should travel to the right to find a wall of brambles. They can jump through these brambles and head through the area to find an Animal Barrel containing Squitter the Spider. After they enter it, they are turned into the spider, who must build web platforms upwards into the area ahead to find a large group of bananas, as well as two Banana Coins. At this point, Squitter should notice a lone banana floating in front of the brambles to the left. Carefully, he must build his webs to create a pathway across and ahead of this banana. If he does so, he enters a hidden area with the DK Coin in it. The arachnid can grab the coin by building more platforms to it.

Golden Feather (Game Boy Advance version only)

  • After the Kongs find the second Squawks in the level, they need to enter the large area cluttered with Zingers. Once they leave this section of the level through the bottom right corner of it, they must head under a few Zingers. When they encounter the group of two Zingers that they must go under, they can find a Golden Feather above the foes in a corner. They can safely collect this item after defeating the second Zinger in the group, who repeatedly flies over it.

Photograph (Game Boy Advance version only)

  • To find the photograph in this level, which can add a picture of Diddy rapping to the eighth page of their scrapbook, the Kongs must head backwards at the beginning of the level to discover a hidden area with a Barrel Cannon and a Diddy Barrel in it. The Barrel Cannon can be used to shoot them into the Diddy Barrel, which only works when Diddy is in the lead. The Diddy Barrel is able to shoot the Kongs to a hidden Auto Fire Barrel, which can then fire them to a photograph.

Donkey Kong Land 2

K-O-N-G Letters

  • K: After the heroes reach the vine after the first Flitter enemy, they should climb downwards into a hidden area. The letter K is at the bottom.
  • O: A DK Barrel is shortly before the first No Animal Sign. Right before here, the primates can find a pathway that leads past a few Zingers. If they take this path, they can find several bananas, a Banana Coin, and the letter O.
  • N: The letter N is next to the second vine after the Star Barrel.
  • G: In the area of vines right after the last No Animal Sign in the level, the letter G can be found above a Krook at the bottom of the area.

Bonus Levels

Diddy Kong climbs to a star in the first and only Bonus Level.
  • After the Kongs pass the first No Animal Sign, they must climb up on the ropes nearby. When they get to the very last rope, the group might see another rope slightly northwest of it. With a well-timed jump, they should hop up and grab that rope, then leap to the right, where they should land into the Bonus Barrel. In its Bonus Level, the heroes must climb along several ropes. There are stars scatted all over them, and they must race all around to grab them all. When all the stars are obtained, the Kremkoin appears.

DK Coin

  • After the heroes turn into Squawks for the second time, they must fly upwards until they see a fork-in-the-road. They would usually take the left path, but instead, the group should take the right route, where there is a Zinger in their way. The monkeys and their parrot buddy must defeat this foes, but then come up to two other Zingers on the way. They can easily be defeated with Squawks' pellets, though. When the path is clear, the bird must travel down the other route going southeast. After he dodges all the Zingers here, he should see the DK Coin.
