There are 3 cards in the Card Roulette: a Starman, a Fire Flower and a Super Mushroom. The player is allowed to have 3 cards at a time. Certain combinations award the player 1-Ups. If the player gets 3 Stars, the player gets 5-Ups. If the player gets 3 Fire Flowers, he gets 3-Ups. If the player gets 3 Super Mushrooms, he gets 2-Ups. Any other combination would result in getting one 1-Up. If the player collects 3 of the same cards, (3 Stars, Fire Flowers, or Super Mushrooms) a firework will be blown in the picture of the same cards the player got, still giving the 1-Ups.

The Card Roulette is what appears at the end of each level in Super Mario Bros. 3. They however don't appear in fortresses and airships. They replaced Flagpoles from the game Super Mario Bros.. When Mario or Luigi hit the Card Roulette, it ends the level, and the game awards the points to the player.
