The first matches have 3 sets and 2 games, while the second and last match has 5 sets. When players clear the Planet Cup, the player unlocks a new level of difficulty for the AI, the Ace difficulty. In ''Mario Tennis'', if players complete the Planet Cup with all characters, they can set the CPU's difficulty to Ace in Exhibition mode.
