Animals are a group of creatures from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The name refers to various different species, those being Cuckies (chickens), Flickies (birds), Peckies (penguins), Pickies (pigs), Pockies (rabbits), Rickies, (squirrels) and Rockies (seals). They are often captured by Dr. Eggman to be used as energy sources for his robots and machines.

Mario & Sonic series
Cuckies, Flickies, Peckies and Pickies appear as audience members in all entries of the Mario & Sonic series. Pockies, Rickies and Rockies also join them as spectators in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

A Cucky, Flicky, a Pecky and a Picky also appear in a badge in the Nintendo 3DS version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

In the Tokyo 1964 mode, all seven types of Animals appear as other racers in the Marathon Event, where colliding with them causes the player to slow down. Additionally, Pockies are featured as teammates in the Volleyball Event if the player is playing as Sonic, Knuckles or Tails.
A Cucky, a Flicky, a Pecky, a Picky and a Pocky can also be found in the story mode.
Super Smash Bros. series
Cuckies, Flickies, Peckies, Pickies, Pockies, Rickies and Rockies occasionally appear in the background of Windy Hill Zone in both Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. All seven types of Animals also appear together as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
