Stage 4-4 is the fourth level of the Jungle in the Game Boy version of Donkey Kong. This level introduces Donkey Kong Jr., Donkey Kong's son who helps out his dad by using switches to activate or deactivate bridges while Donkey Kong throws jacks at Mario.

Layout[edit]

Mario starts off on some flat ground where he must go over and jump up to some platforms above some spikes, while avoiding jacks being thrown by Donkey Kong. He must then jump up to another platform, then wait for the moving platform to move towards him so he can use it to ride it to the top. There are two platforms at the top for Mario to stand on: one on the left, and one on the right. Mario has to wait for Donkey Kong Jr. to pull the switch to activate the bridge so he can cross it while still watching out for jacks. If Donkey Kong Jr. pulls the switch again and Mario falls to the ground he started on, however, he will be defeated. Afterwards, Mario must climb the vine up to Pauline to end the level, after which Donkey Kong will take Pauline away with Donkey Kong Jr. following him and Mario continuing to chase after them.

Enemies[edit]

Cutscene after level completion[edit]

Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. run from Mario, but Donkey Kong stops and puts Pauline down, then throws a Poison Mushroom at Mario, who arrives and touches the Poison Mushroom, causing him to shrink. Mario jumps up and down, then runs after Donkey Kong for a while, but Donkey Kong grabs Pauline and continues to run while Mario struggles to keep up while he's small. Mario then grows back to normal size and continues to chase the Kongs. The player is then given lives based on their score.
