Butterflies are enemies that appear in Donkey Kong 3, being one of the most difficult foes. They appear starting from round 24 (15 in the NES version) and move in random patterns, swooping down on Stanley or taking his flowers. Butterflies can easily distract Stanley from his task of defeating Donkey Kong.

In Donkey Kong 3: Dai Gyakushū, Butterflies fly in groups that reach the bottom of the screen. They take one hit to defeat, and are essentially a faster version of the Kabutomushi.
