As the player continues to rank up, he appears to congratulate him, but his doubles partner [[Chad]] reveals that he is lying and has been insulting their playstyle behind their backs. Mason will get his rank back after the player ranks up to first in Junior Class, and then move up to second rank as soon as the player ranks into Senior Class. After being defeated in doubles, he claimed that [[Clay]]'s or [[Ace]]'s unorthodox style of playing is why his "phenom powers" did not kick in and win the ranking match for him.
