The Virus Coin is a coin that first appeared in Dr. Mario World. They are coins with the image of a virus imprinted on it. They come in various colors that are differentiated by the way they are collected, and are usually required to fulfill the stage's objective(s).

The blue coins are found in the background and thus do not block any capsules, where they are usually covered by objects and will require all the objects in front of it to be removed, so that they be collected.

The pink coins are found in Coin Blocks, where each block contains three coins.

The purple coins can either be found inside cages or outside of them, and those that are inside cages will require every coin not inside cages to be collected first. In versus mode, Dr. Baby Wario's skill can generate up to 12 of them on the opponent's playing field.

The green coins are known as Barriers in that they can switch on off if a capsule lands on the stage without making a match. When the barrier is active, they cannot be collected.

Dr. Baby Wario's skill can be used to collect any of the aforementioned coins in the stage that are targeted. It will collect every single coin in targeted Coin Blocks, but will not collect activated barriers.
