A '''Barrel Shield''' is a type of shield in ''[[Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!]]'' and ''[[Donkey Kong Land III]]''. They first appear in the level [[Barrel Shield Bust-Up]].
A '''Barrel Shield''' is a shield that protects [[Dixie Kong|Dixie]] and [[Kiddy Kong|Kiddy]] from nuts thrown by [[Minkey]]s. They appear in the hollow-tree levels of ''[[Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!|Donkey Kong Country 3]]'' and ''[[Donkey Kong Land III]]'', where they respectively debut in [[Barrel Shield Bust-Up]] and [[Minky Mischief]].  


During the tree levels of the two games, the [[Kong]]s are attacked by [[Minkey]]s, who throw nuts at them. They can find Barrel Shields, which can found moving up and down along ropes. The Kongs can climb behind them for protection. Though this protects against the Minkeys, the Barrel Shield can move in the opposite direction suddenly, leaving the Kongs in the open. Nevertheless, as long as stay behind the Barrel Shield, they can avoid the nuts thrown by Minkeys throughout the area.

A Barrel Shield is a shield that protects Dixie and Kiddy from nuts thrown by Minkeys. They appear in the hollow-tree levels of Donkey Kong Country 3 and Donkey Kong Land III, where they respectively debut in Barrel Shield Bust-Up and Minky Mischief.

Barrel Shields are seen with most groups of Minkeys. They either remain in one position or move with the rope. The moving ones repeatedly move up and down, starting with the first Minkey and ending with the last one. The Kongs must keep up with the Barrel Shield. Some move faster than others. In some cases, it is mandatory for the Kongs to hide behind a Barrel Shield, as some segments have too many Minkeys.
