The first matches have 3 sets and 2 games, while the second and last match has 5 sets. Aesthetically, it takes place during the day for all matchs. When players clear the Planet Cup, the player unlocks a new level of difficulty for the AI.
In Mario Tennis Open, the Shell Cup can be compare as the Planet Cup's successor.
