The course is owned by Elf, who asks the player (Neil or Ella) if they were "the little nymph that beat the course before," which is referencing Kid. Afterwards, he tells the player that he has greatly increased the difficulty of the course since Mario Golf. To complete the course, the player must hit the ball on the green, then putt the ball into the hole. Missing the green or the hole will result in a failure. It is just like the "One-on, One-putt" from Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour.
