Sand Piles[1] are obstacles found in the original Donkey Kong and the remake for the Game Boy. It was because of their pie-like appearance as well as the conveyor levels in the level they appeared in that the level they appeared in was often nicknamed the "Pie Factory" level.

History

Donkey Kong

Sand Piles are only found in the 50m level in the original Donkey Kong. They are on the multiple Conveyor Belts that are in the level and if Mario touches one, he will lose a life. The only way to destroy a Sand Pile is to use a Hammer.

Cement tub (compressed)

In the Game Boy game, Sand Piles appear only in the remake of 50m.
