The players can punch their opponents to push them outside of the star-shaped platform, and jump on the opponents to make them move slower, or jump on them while they are jumping over a hole to make them fall. But more than the opponents, the main thing the players have to watch out for are the falling Cheep Cheeps, from which the "Fish" in this minigame's name comes from. These Cheep Cheeps randomly fall from the sky anywhere on the ground, usually on the edges. When colliding against the ground, the Cheep Cheep will destroy it, making the land smaller and smaller as time passes. There are two kind of Cheep Cheeps; blue ones, which are small and take out just but a single "block" of land, and red ones, which destroy several blocks of lands at once with their gargantuan size. If a Cheep Cheep gets to hit any players, they will be temporarily dizzied and unable to move.

This minigame takes place in an unspecified area of the sky. The players fight on a star-shaped piece of land, which is divided into several connected blocks. However, these "blocks" are not visible on the grass. A [[Klepto]] can be seen flying in circles below the area the players are on, but really serves no purpose. Similarly, there's a [[Shy Guy]] riding a pink balloon-like machine. A lot lower, the player can see another star-shaped floating island similar to the one he or she is fighting on, except this one has more grass and appears to be on the ground.

Template:Minigame-infobox Fish Upon a Star is a 4-player minigame found in Mario Party 5, the minigame's name is derived from the saying "Wish upon a star".

Introduction

The four players are standing on a circular platform in midair. Five Cheep-Cheeps then fly into the air and land on the edges of the platform, causing them to crumble away and for the platform to be in a star shape.

Gameplay

The goal of the game is to avoid falling off the platform by dodging the opponents' punches and kicks, the falling Cheep Cheeps, and moving from crumbling pieces of lands, as those fall shortly after they start shaking. The last standing player wins.

When colliding against the ground, the Cheep Cheep destroys that segment of the platform, making the land smaller and smaller as time passes. There are two kind of Cheep Cheeps; blue ones, which are small and take out just but a single "block" of land, and red ones, which destroy several blocks of lands at once with their gargantuan size. If a Cheep Cheep happens to hit any players, they are temporarily stunned and unable to move.

The third factor that can eliminate a player from this minigame is the crumbling ground. If the ground begins shaking below the player, he or she must move out of there as quickly as possible, as this shaking indicates the ground will fall down.

Ending

The camera zooms in to give a frontal view of the winner, who preforms his or her victory animation as two rainbows form in the background.
