In ''[[Mario Kart Tour]]'', every driver, kart, and glider has a set of favored and favorite courses. Using one on such a course grants special bonuses, such as more items and [[Frenzy|frenzies]], extra bonus points, or longer combo time. Since version 2.0.0, the list of items for a course that they have as favored or favorite only changes when that course is featured in a tour, with one or more variants of the course receiving favored or favorite status for recently added drivers, karts, or gliders.

==Other information==
Favorite courses, courses in which items are listed in the top shelf, grant the largest bonuses; for example, drivers receive three items per box. Favored courses, courses in which items are listed in the middle shelf, offer a smaller amount of bonuses, such as two items per box for drivers. Two conditions can modify an item's rank on certain appearances of a course:
*If the driver corresponds to the cup, they will be bumped one rank up for all three courses in said cup, from bottom to middle or from middle to top. Even if the same course exists in a different cup, it will not apply to the driver in that other cup. For example, using Mario on SNES Mario Circuit 1R in the Mario Cup changes the course from favored to favorite, although the same is not true for another appearance of SNES Mario Circuit 1R contained in another driver's cup.
**Before the [[Ice Tour]], this also applied to a certain kart and glider in each cup. The karts and gliders that received a cup bonus in each tour can be found in the page for that tour under "Signature kart sets".
*During every tour up until the [[Battle Tour]], the spotlight drivers, karts, and gliders of the first pipe are bumped one rank up for the second race in every cup. Similarly, the spotlight drivers, karts, and gliders of the second pipe are bumped one rank up for the third race in every cup.
**Occasionally, certain items are bumped one rank up in the first race in every cup during a certain tour. This has first happened with the [[Rambi Rider]] in the [[Jungle Tour]].

Normal items receive one favorite boost at level 6, Super items receive two (one at level 3 and one at level 6), Mii Racing Suits receive three (one at level 3, one at level 6, and one at level 8), and High-End items receive five (two at level 3, two at level 6, and one at level 8, starting with the [[Mii Tour]]).
