According to [[Masahiro Sakurai]], [[Dixie Kong]] was going to fight alongside [[Diddy Kong]], similar to their role in ''[[Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest]]'', but the idea was later scrapped since this was too difficult to implement<ref name="list"/>, and only Diddy Kong appears in the final game. However, one of Diddy Kong's alternate outfits resembles Dixie's clothes.
