'''Hammer Throw''' is an [[Event]] that appears in ''[[Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Arcade Edition]]''. The aim of the event is to throw the hammer as far as possible, with the starting world record being 86.740m and the starting Olympic record being 84.800m. The characters with this as a recommended event are [[Bowser]], [[Wario]], [[Donkey Kong]], [[Knuckles]] and [[Vector]].

==Gameplay==
In this event, the play starts by holding down the buttons on the two joysticks, and then rapidly spins them anti-clockwise to increase the distance of their throw. Spinning the levers at the same time will allow the player to complete more rotations and earn more distance. The game shows how many rotations the player has completed, and after a period of time, their number of spins will be capped. At this point, the player needs to release the buttons when the yellow circle closes in around the end of their hammer. The better their timing of the release, the better the rating they will receive and the further the hammer will fly. Once the hammer has been released, the player can shake the joysticks in any direction so that their character shouts after the hammer, allowing it to fly further. The more the joysticks are shaken, the louder the shout. Once the hammer has landed [[Orbot & Cubot|Orbot]] will measure the distance the hammer has been thrown. The player has two attempts at this event, with the furthest distance of the two achieved used to decide their placement in the event.

At the end of the event, the player's performance will be ranked in the categories of Spin, Throw and Roar.
