Sphinx first appears in the ''[[Mario Kart 8]]'' and ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]'' rendition of {{classic-link|GCN|Dry Dry Desert}}, replacing the generic sphinx from the course's ''[[Mario Kart: Double Dash!!]]'' version. It is located near the bend immediately after the oasis. The statue returns in the ''[[Mario Kart Tour]]'' rendition of [[Wii Dry Dry Ruins]], located in the vicinity of the branching path between the [[Finish line (object)|finish line]] and the oasis; here, it replaces one of the [[Yoshi]] sphinx statues from the ''[[Mario Kart Wii]]'' version of the course.
