Flipruses first appear in ''New Super Mario Bros. U'' and [[New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe|its Nintendo Switch port]], where they create snowballs and launch them at the players. They only appear in [[Fliprus Lake]] and [[World Coin-7]]. They behave similarly to [[Snow Spike]]s, but they launch their snowballs up much higher, their snowballs do not get bigger, and their snowballs can be [[jump]]ed on without taking damage. When they throw their snowballs, they will usually jump. Their snowballs will melt when they fall into the water and they can knock out enemies in their paths.

In ''[[New Super Luigi U]]'', they appear as slightly more common enemies. They appear in the levels [[Fliprus Floes]] and [[Hammerswing Hangout]].

The Fliprus is featured in the [[LEGO Super Mario|LEGO ''Super Mario'']] Wave 6 expansion set Fliprus Snow Adventure, which released on January 1st, 2023, and retailed for 65$. The set includes a play feature where the Fliprus can be flipped forward by LEGO [[Mario]] to launch an ice boulder. This is the most expensive regular set in the series 6 of LEGO [[Mario]], and it could be reasonably argued that the Fliprus is the main focus of the set. Also considering LEGO [[Mario]]s previous release habits, it is possible that the Fliprus could be included in a future character pack series, just as a smaller version of itself, similar to what happened to the LEGO Sumo Bro and the LEGO Spike, although this is not at all confirmed.
