In this event, the player starts by pressing | In this event, the player starts by pressing the Y Button, but can charge up energy beforehand by holding the Y Button to perform a faster start. If the player begins charging when "2" appears onscreen and releases exactly when "Go!" appears, they will perform a starting dash. The player can pick up speed by pressing the Y Button to crouch, steer using left and right on the Control Pad and drift by holding the R Button while turning. If the player performs a large drift and releases the R Button when their character's trail is orange, they will perform a drift dash, which gives them a small boost of speed upon the completion of the drift. The player can also gain speed boosts by passing over the [[Dash Panel]]s on the course. To perform tricks, the player must jump off the ramps at the sides of the half pipe, which resemble [[Vertical dash panel]]s and come in two varieties, an orange and yellow ones and blue and green ones, with the latter giving the player more height and thus more time to enter commands. The faster the player approaches the ramp, the more height they will achieve and hence will have more time to input commands, with their remaining time indicated on a gauge. The player can input any commands in any sequence while in the air by pressing the A, B, Y and X Buttons to perform various grabs and the directions on the Control Pad to perform turns. The player gains points or performing tricks, receiving more for turns than grabs and gaining even more by performing multiple tricks in sequence. The course also features [[Coin]]s that the player can collect, and when they collect five, they will be able to attempt to perform a special trick. Each trick is unique to the character, and adds 5,000 points to their score when successfully executed. To perform a trick, the player must jump off the side of the ramp and enter a series of commands, either consisting of the A, B, X and Y Buttons or the Control Pad directions, within the time limit and with enough time remaining afterwards to perform the trick. If they successfully perform it, the player will lose five coins, however if they fail their current coin count will be halved and rounded up for odd numbers. The course also features a single [[Goomba]] that causes the player to lose speed if they hit it. The player has one minute to score as many points as possible and reach the end of the course. If they fail to do so, they will not score any points for the event. | ||
