The first time a board is played, the game automatically selects the boss of the corresponding board. When the board is played again and a human player lands on the space, the Captain can choose between three random mid-boss minigames like in ''Mario Party 9'' while the player in the last position can choose between three end-stage boss minigames. If a CPU player lands on the space, the boss minigame is instead chosen randomly.

Captain Bonuses are not awarded anymore at the end of the minigame. Instead, the player who stops on this space wins a set of Mini Stars (five for the Fortress and ten for the Castle).
