'''4x100m Relay''' is an [[Athletics]] [[Event]] that appears in the [[Wii]] version of ''[[Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii)|Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games]]''. It is set in the {{wp|Beijing National Stadium|National Stadium}}. The objective of the event is for each runner to complete their 100m stretch of the track in the fastest time. The starting world and Olympic record for this event is 0:37.40. The event is unlocked by completing the Mercury, Venus, Saturn and Jupiter Circuits.

==Gameplay==
In this event, the player selects a team of four characters to participate in the event, with the order of their selection corresponding to their running order in the event. In Circuit mode, the additional characters for the player's team are chosen randomly. The event itself starts with the announcer calling out the lane number and team name of the player's team, before showing the characters preparing to start running on the blocks. Once the word "Ready" appears onscreen, the player can press and hold {{button|wii|B}} to charge up power, shown in their speed meter, which will allow them to perform a faster start. When "Go!" appears, the player must swing the [[nwiki:Wii Remote|Wii Remote]] down to start running, however doing so too early will cause them to perform a foul and the event to be restarted. If the player has already performed a foul and swings down too early again, they will instead simply stumble on the blocks and lose any charge they built up. Once the event has started, the player must swing the Wii Remote and [[nwiki:Nunchuk|Nunchuk]] up and down alternately to cause their character to run. Once the player's speed has been locked, the player must stop swinging the remotes and prepare to hand the baton onto the next runner. As their character gets closer to next one, they must press {{button|wii|B}} to cause them to start running, however doing this too early will cause the next character to eventually stop and perform a bad handover. When the player's character approaches the next runner, they must swing the Wii Remote down to pass on the baton. Doing so with good timing will give them a "Good" or "Great" rating and a speed boost dependent on the rating, with a bigger one being given for "Great" rated passes. If the receiver stops running before the current runner reaches them or is handed the baton with bad timing, they will get a "Bad" rating and lose most of their speed. When the final runner approaches the finish line, the player can press {{button|wii|B}} just before they cross it to lead with their chest and take a fraction off their time. Although all four characters will react to their result after the event, only the first runner will appear to represent the team in the medal ceremony.

*When "GO!" appears, swing the Wii Remote down and release {{button|wii|B}} to start running.
*You can speed up by quickly alternating the Wii Remote and the Nunchuk.
*When "SPEED LOCKED" appear, stop shaking the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to prepare for the baton pass.
*Press {{button|wii|B}} and the next runner will start. When near, swing the Wii Remote vertically to pass the baton. With good timing you will get a fast start.
*You can also play this event with only the Wii Remote. Shake the Wii Remote to speed up.
