The fight takes place in a factory, which is labeled "Krem Co." on the overworld map. The battle arena consists of a simple flat enclosed area. KAOS descends from above and recognizes the Kongs as an enemy, initiating the battle.

KAOS hovers from side to side across the battle arena, periodically lowering himself in an attempt to burn the Kongs with his exhaust flames. Eventually, KAOS will stop in the center and start swinging two blades around his body. These blades do not damage the Kongs; they are instead able to be used as platforms to climb up and jump on KAOS's head. The blades will spin around his body three times each, with mechanical boxing gloves coming out during the second rotation. The gloves will push the Kongs away, but do not damage them. KAOS resumes hovering left and right after the blades are finished rotating or he takes a hit.

Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong battle KAOS in Kaos Karnage in the Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country 3
Kaos Karnage in the Game Boy Advance version

The fight takes place in a factory, labeled "Krem Co." on the overworld map. The battle arena consists of a simple flat enclosed area. KAOS descends from above and recognizes the Kongs as an enemy, initiating the battle.

In the battle, KAOS hovers from side to side across the battle arena, sometimes lowering himself to try and burn the Kongs with his exhaust flames. The Kongs must move under KAOS as he approaches them and before he releases the exhaust flames on them. Eventually, KAOS will stop in the center and start swinging two blades around his body. These blades do not damage the Kongs, but are used as platforms to go up and jump onto KAOS's head to damage him. The blades will spin around his body three times each, with mechanical boxing gloves coming out during the second rotation. The gloves will push the Kongs away but also do not damage them. After the blades stop rotating or KAOS takes a hit, he resumes moving side to side. After each hit, KAOS releases his exhaust flames more quickly. After three hits, KAOS's head comes off, revealing another head underneath. He then continues his previous attack pattern until he is attacked a fourth time. KAOS's body will rise, and his now-detached first head will try to zap the Kongs with lasers. The Kongs must keep their distance from the head, which slowly floats toward them, to avoid being hit, only running underneath the head during the intervals between laser blasts. After firing three shots, the head will rise and the body will come back down and resume swinging blades, allowing the Kongs to attack him again. The process repeats, though the head now fires four lasers before the body descends again. After taking three more hits, making a total of six hits, KAOS surrenders and flies away, promising that he will get the Kongs the next time they meet. KAOS's first head malfunctions, falls to the ground, and explodes, dropping a ski, or a bear coin if the Kongs decide to rematch him.

In the Game Boy Advance version, KAOS takes an extra hit to defeat, and his first head will fire three lasers per volley regardless of how much damage he has taken.
