A Chomps Jr. (stylized as Chomps, Jr. in the Nintendo Player's Guide[1]) is a small shark-like creature encountered in the Donkey Kong games.
Chomps Jr. are smaller and more nimble versions of Chomps. Like a regular Chomps, a Chomps Jr. will attack either Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong by swimming into them and biting down on them. A Chomps Jr. can be defeated with aid from the swordfish ally Enguarde.
Despite Chomps Jr. themselves not being present in Donkey Kong Land, regular Chomps in this game are reskinned to look like Chomps Jr.. This is traced from an official Donkey Kong Land guide book from Japan, which lists the regular Chomps as an enemy in the game instead of Chomps Jr..
Chomps Jr., along with Chomps, appear in the trailer for the apparently canceled game Donkey Kong Racing. This trailer cameo sparked rumors that Chomps Jr. along with Chomps may have been rideable in the game.
