Template:Infobox Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour is the second game in the Mario Golf series and the first for the GameCube. The game has earned the Player's Choice rating.

The noticeable features are special elements such as Fast Fairways ( where the ball rolls much farther than on a normal fairway), Warp Pipes, (when a ball is shot into a Warp Pipe, it will come out of the corresponding same-colored pipe) and Chain Chomps (when a ball is hit and it lands near them, the Chain Chomp will chase after the ball, causing an O.B. shot).

Opening Movie

Mario and Luigi look upon a shiny trophy while they comment on how nice it looks. Peach and Daisy yell their names and tell them to come play. Mario and Luigi shout "Okay!", rush over to the princesses, and they start playing. Wario and Waluigi, from a bush, look at them play and appear jealous that they're such great players. The two hear a noise and turn around to see Yoshi and Koopa together. Wario and Waluigi clench their Golf Clubs while laughing, and prepare to have a game with them. They all take turns hitting the ball, and Yoshi hits near a Chain Chomp. When he tries to get it back, the Chain Chomp wakes up and barks at Yoshi, scaring him and making him fall over. Wario attempts to hit the ball out of the bunker, but all he manages to do is hit the sand with the club and make it fly into Waluigi's face. Waluigi then starts trying to putt the ball into the hole, but fails continuously. He takes so much time that Yoshi and Koopa fall asleep, and he gives up trying.

Wario then points out that Yoshi and Koopa have fallen asleep, so they can't play with them. Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong walk past the sleeping Yoshi and Koopa, and Wario and Waluigi find their next opponents. Wario hits the ball a long way, despite his terrible swing, until it goes out of sight into the forest. Wario and Waluigi start celebrating until they hear a loud roar. The ball suddenly flies back, landing in front of Wario. The two look up and see Bowser in his Koopa Clown Car, and he has a black eye from the golf ball. Bowser starts firing Bullet Bills at the two as they run around Lakitu Valley past Birdo and Boo, who were playing a game of golf on their own. Fortunately for the two, they find a yellow Warp Pipe that is too small for the Koopa Clown Car or Bowser to fit through. Wario and Waluigi come out the other side of the pipe and stop to catch their breath. However, Bowser and the Koopa Clown Car appear right above them. Bowser takes out a Bob-omb as Wario and Waluigi scream in fear.

Meanwhile, Mario is preparing to take a shot. Wario and Waluigi try to escape from Bowser by going through an enormous metal door. Mario hits his ball with the golf club, just as Waluigi is able to open the door, and at that moment the ball Mario just hit bounces off Wario and Waluigi to Bowser's hand, knocking the Bob-omb down. The Bob-omb explodes on Wario, Waluigi, and Bowser. Mario stands confused as to what caused the explosion, while Luigi, Peach, and Daisy watch in awe.

Golf Courses

Lakitu Valley - A basic course surrounded by trees. It is the most conventional and easiest course to play on.
Cheep Cheep Falls - This course has a conventional nature like Lakitu Valley, but also contains ponds and rivers as water hazards. Trees and subtle traps are also more abundant.
Shifting Sands - This course, which may be based on Dry Dry Desert and/or Shifting Sand Land, contains many sand traps, known as bunkers. There are also waste areas, cacti and rocks that will prove to be severe hazards.
Blooper Bay - This course features some unconventional elements, such as Fast Fairways (surfaces on which the ball roles further than normal), and is set in a tropical resort area. Many of the bunkers are shaped like recognizable objects, such as seagulls or bananas.
Peach's Castle Grounds - This course features many elements unique to the Mario series, such as Warp Pipes, Chain Chomps, and giant Mushrooms. Big Bob-omb also makes a cameo here.
Bowser Badlands - This dark, difficult course designed by Bowser contains Bob-ombs, Piranha Plants, and Whomps, as well as elements such as lava. Extra care will need to be taken when playing on this course.
Congo Canopy - Set in the Congo Jungle, this is a special Par 3 course used in pin-shot and birdie challenges. It can be easy to miss your mark and land out of bounds and there are also a few water hazards to be found.

"Target Bullseye Tour" Version

On July 28, 2003, Nintendo of America released Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour (Target Bullseye Tour Included -- Exclusive Version) through Target stores. This version allowed players to play the Bullseye Tour in the Special Tournament mode. Codes issued from this version of the game could be submitted through the official website. Nintendo prizes were mailed out to the winners. The promotion ended on August 31, 2003.[1]

Trivia

  • In Coin Attack mode, the coins make up various patterns. One makes up the Triforce from the Legend of Zelda series, while another looks like the Nintendo GameCube. One pattern spells out "1-2-3 GO!"
  • Every time the player makes a shot, the screen will close up on the ball. Very, very rarely and randomly, the close up will feature a Boo the size of a golf ball, making the sound that Boos do.
  • This game's scoreboard features many characters from other Mario games, including Goombario and Hammer Bro. Quite shockingly (and very possibly coincidentally), one of these referenced characters has actually never been seen since the Super Mario Adventures comic, where he was a minor hero.
  • Pikmin made a cameo appearance in this game. If the player hits the ball into a flower patch, several Pikmin get knocked out of the flowers.
