• In a video presentation published by Nintendo on Mario Day (pictured), Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meledandri announced that Illumination is producing another movie "based on the world of Super Mario Bros." planned to be released on April 3, 2026 in most markets. The presentation further reveals the release dates for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, which are set to release on May 23, 2024 and June 27, 2024 respectively; as well as Dr. Mario, Mario Golf, and Mario Tennis for the Game Boy - Nintendo Switch Online application, which were released two days after the video.
• Mario vs. Donkey Kong for the Nintendo Switch was released worldwide on February 16, 2024.
• Mojo Nixon, musician and actor who portrayed Toad in the 1993 Super Mario Bros. film, died on February 7, 2024 at the age of 66.
• Universal Orlando Resort's Epic Universe, which includes Super Nintendo World and the Donkey Kong Country area, is set to open in 2025.
