History

Mario is Missing!

The Brandenburg Gate makes its first Super Mario–franchise appearance in the PC version of Mario is Missing!. In the game, a Koopa Troopa has stolen a horseshoe from the statue on top of the Gate, forcing it to close to the public until Luigi tracks down the Koopa and returns the horseshoe. However, to do so, he must first prove the horseshoe's authenticity by answering two of the following questions:

  • The Gate was designed to look like:
    • the Greek Acropolis
    • the Arch of Triumph
    • the Berlin Wall
  • Who drives the chariot on the Gate's top?
    • A Goddess
    • A cowboy
    • King Frederick III

The Brandenburg Gate in Mario Kart Tour

The Brandenburg Gate would later reappear in the Berlin Byways courses in the Mario Kart series, first appearing in Mario Kart Tour. In that game, it is driven under near the beginning of Berlin Byways 2, and near the end of Berlin Byways.

Berlin Byways later appears in wave 3 of the Mario Kart 8 DeluxeBooster Course Pass. In this version of the course, racers pass under the Brandenburg Gate four times throughout the race. At some points, there will be a Glide Ramp in front of the Gate and/or Thwomps underneath it.
