Car

Cars (not to be confused with Karts) are obstacles appearing in the Mario Kart series. They rarely appear in the game and actually only appear in a few courses Toad's Turnpike (Mario Kart 64), Mushroom Bridge and Mushroom City (Mario Kart: Double Dash!!) and Shroom Ridge (Mario Kart DS).

When a player crashes into one of the karts, he or she will spin out or be launched into the air and then come back down. The cars in the game are used as obstacles for the player. When a player crashes into one of the cars, the car will sometimes honk.

Cars also appeared many times in a few The Super Mario Bros. Super Show episodes. Other than the Mario Kart and the show apperances, cars don't seem to be a common transportation in the Mushroom Planet, unlike Earth, where the car is a common transportation.
