Rename

Is there any reason we can't rename this file? It doesn't match up with other MK64 filenames. Super Mario 64 promotional artwork MegaBowser64 (talk) Artwork of Bowser in New Super Mario Bros. U 13:24, May 16, 2024 (EDT)

Wait, this filename is NOT associated with the Wario Land 2 form of the same name?! How did this slide under the radar? ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 13:31, May 16, 2024 (EDT)
Well, Wario is being crazy here. He's eating his hat! SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) (talk) 13:33, May 16, 2024 (EDT)
Generally speaking, the wiki's stance is "if a file doesn't need to be renamed, don't." This keeps pointless move wars from happening. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:23, May 16, 2024 (EDT)
Yeah, and WARIO's being CRAZY because he's eating his hat! SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) (talk) 15:19, May 16, 2024 (EDT)
I mean, one could argue this file needs to be renamed, for its name misrepresents what it displays. As mentioned before, we do in fact have something called Crazy Wario, which has absolutely nothing to do with Mario Kart 64. When someone just sees the filename and not the file itself, "Crazy Wario.png", one would think this is an image or artwork for the Wario Land II transformation, and not Wario's losing mugshot in Mario Kart 64.
I could also argue that the name "Crazy Wario.png" doesn't even fit this particular image well. Wario isn't being "crazy" here, he's being displayed here as furious. Furious, because he lost, and so furious that he begun eating his hat in frustration. This kind of reminds me of the Scrooge McDuck character John D. Rockerduck, who in Italian stories also tends to eat his hat in frustration whenever he loses to Scrooge. Moreover, there's an idiom using the phrase "I'll eat my hat", which means that you're extremely sure of something not happening (e.g. "I'll eat my hat if I lose!"; showing confidence in oneself winning). One could presume Wario has said something like this, given how he's eating his hat here; so it may have nothing to do with craziness at all. I love this file name. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 17:36, May 17, 2024 (EDT)
If you like it so much, you could always preserve it in BJAODN. I think it's funny enough. Aside from that, I'm vouching for a rename per Arend's reasoning and it being a flowery name in general. We could use PorpleBot to correct the links once we go though with the rename. SolemnStormcloud (talk) 18:48, May 17, 2024 (EDT)
Again, eating one's own hat is considered crazy, and that's what Wario's doing! SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) (talk) 09:09, May 20, 2024 (EDT)
That doesn't mean Wario himself is crazy for doing it. He's angry about his loss. So he mimics an idiom (which has nothing to do with being crazy either), which, combined with his anger, is likened to a trait of a comic character; all of which I already explained in full detail a couple days ago. ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 09:31, May 20, 2024 (EDT)
I'm not saying "Wario is crazy", I'm saying "Wario is being crazy". SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) (talk) 09:33, May 20, 2024 (EDT)
That's really a superficial difference; it doesn't disprove anything I just said, so whether Wario is crazy or being crazy, my point still stands. Besides, "Wario is crazy" is literally what the filename "Crazy Wario.png" means or implies (which, again, is already the name of a form that has nothing to do with this image). ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 09:40, May 20, 2024 (EDT)
The form is more like a drunk or dizzy Wario. How about this: if you saw someone eating a hat, would you think that person's crazy? That's basically the point. Wario eating a hat is Wario being crazy, and someone seeing that would think Wario is crazy. SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) (talk) 09:43, May 20, 2024 (EDT)
Have you actually read ANYTHING I have said earlier? The hat eating has NOTHING TO DO WITH BEING CRAZY. It refers to an idiom. Not only that, but there's also a comic character who literally eats his hat in anger after he loses to his rival, and this character isn't typically considered crazy either. Wario eating a hat is NOT "Wario being crazy", it's him taking an idiom literally because he's angry and he lost.
Also, Wario Land 2's form is officially named "Crazy Wario". Yes, it's censorship, they didn't want kids to know about drunkards, but it's still an official name. Besides, I'd argue that wonkily walking in a staggering fashion while looking dazed might be considered crazier than eating your hat in anger.
