Cape Codswallop is the first area in Donkey Kong Land III. Located in the Northern Kremisphere, to the east of the Primate Plains, it replaces Lake Orangatanga as the first world in the game. This area is ruled by Barbos, the giant Lurchin. The name "Cape Codswallop" is a portmanteau of the real-world location Cape Cod and "codswallop", a slang term for nonsense.
Cape Codswallop is a small peninsula surrounded by large bodies of water, which are connected by two rivers: the northern one powers a large water-mill, while the southern one is a riverbank filled with Kocos. This region seems to have a temperate climate, though some coastal areas appear to have a Mediterranean climate. Two of the stages take place on boardwalks and wharves, and are separated by a large coral reef.
