Bubbler the Octopus is a large red octopus and one of the best racers on Timber's Island in Diddy Kong Racing located in Sherbet Island. During the events of the game, Bubbler was brainwashed by the evil alien Wizpig into becoming one of his lieutenants and entrusted with a portion of the Wizpig Amulet. Bubbler would only allow someone to race him if they managed to beat all the challenges on his area, Sherbet Island. Once Bubbler plays dirty in races, he would drop aquatic mines in an attempt to sink his opponent. Eventually Bubbler was defeated, this defeat allowed Bubbler to fight off Wizpig's control long enough to allow his opponent to participate in the Silver Coin challenges.
During the game's events, Bubbler is only allows the player to race him in his own course in Sherbet Island after they win in every race course of said world. The second race is more challenging, since Bubbler now moves faster and drops bubbles that temporarily encapsulate the player. Bubbler's only other appearance is in the 4-koma Gag Battle adaptation of Diddy Kong Racing.
After beating the Silver Coin challenges the player is given the chance to have a rematch against Bubbler. This race is more challenging as Bubbler now moves faster and drops destructive exploding bubbles. Once again, Bubbler is defeated and this time he breaks free of Wizpig's control permanently. As thanks for freeing him, Bubbler gives his opponent the piece of Wizpig's Amulet he was guarding. Bubbler oddly does not appear in the cinematic ending of Diddy Kong Racing, he is the only character in the game not to appear there.

Bubbler is also a boss in Diddy Kong Racing DS, where his voice sounds more menacing.  Although he is relatively unchanged from the Nintendo 64 version, Bubbler is harder to beat during the rematch. In fact, his rematch in the remake is tougher than in the original version.

Bubbler the Octopus is a large red octopus and the third boss of Diddy Kong Racing and its Nintendo DS remake. He has yellow eyes with green irises and black pupils. His voice sounds garbled and very bubbly, hence the name. Prior to the game's events, Bubbler was brainwashed by Wizpig and entrusted with a portion of his amulet, so Bubbler is not inherently a villain.

During the game's events, Bubbler is only allows the player to race him in his own course in Sherbet Island after they win in every race course of said world. During the race, Bubbler drops aquatic mines to trip his opponent. Bubbler can be attacked by the player shooting missiles at him from red Weapon Balloons. After the player wins, Bubbler challenges them to complete every Silver Coin challenge of Sherbet Island before rematching him. The second race is more challenging, since Bubbler now moves faster and drops bubbles that temporarily encapsulate the player. When Bubbler loses again, he is freed from Wizpig's control and gives the player the piece of the Wizpig amulet he was guarding. Bubbler is the only character in the game not to appear in the cinematic ending, though he is present in the remake.

Bubbler's only other appearance is in the 4-koma Gag Battle adaptation of Diddy Kong Racing.
