First appearance Donkey Kong (1994)
Subject origin Frog

Jumpers are frogs that appear in Donkey Kong for the Game Boy. They are found in the Jungle area and can be seen in Stage 4-10.

Jumpers wander around by making continuous brief leaps, stopping at irregular intervals to croak. They also do not follow a set direction, ability that makes their way of locomotion unique from that of other creatures in the game. If Mario hops on them, Jumpers change their behavior, as they begin to jump vertically and higher than usual. This action allows Mario to reach platforms located high above, which is especially helpful when he carries a key and thus has no possibility to climb ladders. If Mario dismounts from a Jumper, it will resume its initial stroll.

Jumpers are impossible to pick up. Even though they are allies of Mario, they can be knocked out nonetheless if Mario throws any burden he currently carries, such as a key, at them.
