Snufits reappear in ''[[Super Mario 64 DS]]'', behaving very similarly to previously. Unlike in the original version, their design was more faithful to the black-masked Snifits, save for the lack of legs and ability to float, which is the same in both versions of the game. Their shape was also more like the regular Snifit design, thus resembling a [[Boo Guy]].

Notable members

The Super Mario 64 version of Snifits resemble the original, wearing masks with bullet-shooting mouth nozzles, but are noticeably different in that they lack legs and float in the air instead of walking. In the Super Mario 64 Player's Guide, they are known as Snufits and are additionally referred to as the cousins of regular Snifits,[1] while Super Mario 64 DS Prima Games coverage instead refers to them as Sniffits.[2] The former is likely a pun on "snuff it," a colloquialism for dying, while the latter may be an outright typo.

History

Super Mario 64 / Super Mario 64 DS

In Super Mario 64, Snufits appear in the Hazy Maze and Cavern of the Metal Cap areas. Here, they have a round Boo-like appearance and wear white masks. When Mario comes close to one, it will shoot a burst of small bullets out of its mouth, although this action is preceded by briefly swelling up like a balloon before firing. Snufits can be defeated by any basic attack.

Sniffits reappear in Super Mario 64 DS, retaining their behavior. Unlike in the original version, their design is more faithful in appearance and shape to black-masked Snifits, but have long sleeves and a long tail, thus resembling a Boo Guy. Their heights from the ground have also been made less varied.

Mario Party 2

In Mario Party 2, on the board Space Land, the members of the Snifit Patrol are in fact these Snifits, as proven by their speech icons. In Mario Party Superstars, they are replaced by ordinary Snifits.
