The Metroid series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.

Metroid is a series of sci-fi action-adventure video games created by Nintendo, which follows the bounty-hunting exploits of the legendary Samus Aran. The Metroid and Mario franchise have referenced each other numerous times; various Metroid elements have appeared in Mario games and the WarioWare sub-franchise, the latter of which is headed by Metroid co-creator Yoshio Sakamoto. The two franchises have crossed over fully in the Super Smash Bros. series.
