Snowflakes[1] are crystallized ice formations encountered as obstacles in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. They frequently appear in the level Forest Folly. Snowflakes move on set paths through the air, with most of them constantly appearing from above. Their movements include swaying up and down, moving on an arc, circling around, or simply descending into an abyss.
If the player(s) touch a snowflake, they lose one heart from their health meter. Snowflakes can be destroyed with a thrown barrel or Tuff Tuck, or with a Cane Bounce.
Near the end of Forest Folly, larger indestructible snowflakes start to float from above, breaking the wooden platforms beneath when they come into contact with them. In that section of the level, the player(s) have to touch the Slot Machine Barrel and avoid the big snowflakes, otherwise they instantly lose a life.
