The Fire Emblem series emblem, from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.

Fire Emblem is a tactical RPG series created by Nintendo. Originally exclusive to Japan, the franchise was introduced to international gamers via Super Smash Bros. Melee. Since then, Fire Emblem games have been released worldwide, and have achieved rising levels of success over the years. Most games take place in their own universe, and introduce protagonists such as Marth, Roy, Ike and Lucina. In each game, the player collects an army of soldiers, each with their own unique designs and personalities, and must command them strategically to undergo various missions. As of 2018, the series has become successful enough internationally to be the arguable "face" of Nintendo's franchises geared towards older audiences, with the tagline "Summoning All Heroes" (inspired by Fire Emblem Heroes) used in advertisements for such games, including Metroid games.

The Fire Emblem series and Mario series have notably crossed over in the Super Smash Bros. games. Outside of this, however, Fire Emblem is notable for one of the few major Nintendo franchises to have not crossed over with or cross-referenced Mario elsewhere, or vice-versa.
