The move can only be performed whether the player controls either Cranky Kong alone or [[Donkey Kong]] partnered with Cranky. While in mid-air, Cranky can put his cane vertically underneath him and bounce off any kind of horizontal platform, gaining height and, eventually, speed. Cranky can protect himself or Donkey Kong from spike-coated surfaces, since the cane also keeps a reasonable distance between the character(s) and the surface it bounces off. Likewise, Cranky can use his cane to bounce and defeat enemies; those that protect their top sides with thorns or tough helmets, such as [[Pointy Tuck]]s, [[Tuff Tuck]]s, and [[Tuffton]]s, and which cannot be normally [[stomp]]ed on, can be easily knocked out with at least one Cane Bounce.

The Cane Bounce[1] is an action that can be performed by Cranky Kong in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, a game for the Wii U. It involves the use of Cranky's powerful and resistant cane, which he can use as an improvised spring or even as a weapon.

The move can only be performed whether the player controls either Cranky Kong alone or Donkey Kong partnered with Cranky. While in mid-air, Cranky can put his cane vertically underneath him and bounce off any kind of horizontal platform, gaining height, and eventually, speed. Cranky can protect himself or Donkey Kong from most spike-coated surfaces, since the cane also keeps a reasonable distance between the character(s) and the surface it bounces off. Likewise, Cranky can use his cane to bounce and defeat enemies; those that protect their top sides with thorns or tough helmets, such as Pointy Tucks, Tuff Tucks, and Tufftons, and which cannot be normally stomped on, can be easily knocked out with at least one Cane Bounce.

Enemies and obstacles engulfed in fire, on the other hand, are invulnerable to Cane Bounces, and if the players make Cranky Kong perform this move on such trouble-makers, they get him harmed. Likewise, some spiked surfaces have spikes that are tall enough to reach Cranky, even when he uses the Cane Bounce.

Whenever the character is airborne, the Cane Bounce can be executed by:

  • pressing A Button or B Button when the player uses the primary or secondary controls of the Wii U GamePad;
  • pressing the Two Button when the player uses only the Wii Remote;
  • pressing the A Button when the player uses both the Wii Remote and the Nunchuk.
