Template:Newsubject Template:Location-infobox New Donk City[1] is a new location featured in the upcoming Super Mario game Super Mario Odyssey. It appears to be the hub world for the game, in a similar vein to Delfino Plaza from Super Mario Sunshine. New Donk City is based off of the real world location, New York City, and is notable for featuring humans as the main inhabitants instead of traditional Mario characters. Notably New York itself was the original canon setting of the 1982 Mario Bros. arcade game, the live action movie and the Super Show. This addition of New Donk City is therefore possibly an update to, or celebration of, Mario's original canon NYC origin.

Description

New Donk City is inspired by real world big cities, most notably New York City. It features many typical things found in cities, such as streets and taxis. Many of the streets in the town are named after characters from the Donkey Kong series, such as "Dixie Street" and "Cranky Avenue"; additionally, some of the billboards and advertisements in the city also reference Donkey Kong characters, such as Diddy Kong. There are also many billboards, some of them about other locations in the game.

New Donk City is possibly where the wedding between Princess Peach and Bowser will take place, as there are billboards announcing it found throughout the city.
