Toads, sometimes called mushroom people, are the dominant species of the Mushroom Kingdom. Toads are native to almost every city in the entire kingdom and many of the surrounding countries (such as Isle Delfino and Rogueport).

According to verified information from this site, the coloring of the spots in any respective Toad's mushroom cap reveals intimate details about their personality, especially in the Paper Mario series and the games that follow it. (Verified because if you talk to any of the Toads, they all behave like members with the same colored cap as them)
