When the attack begins, [[Mario]] will back up, spawn [[Luiginoids]], and hold his hammer upright. The player has to keep pressing {{button|3ds|B}} button to make the Luiginoids jump on the hammer while the player moves the {{button|3ds|Stick}} to the left and right to keep Mario's balance. After done forming the Luiginoids, a crosshair will appear to show which enemy is the target. When the attack is done, a wave will damage any surrounding enemies. The bigger the hammer, the bigger the wave.

When the attack first started, two white guidelines are placed in front and behind Mario on the ground. If the player keeps holding the {{button|3ds|Stick}} in the same direction of a guideline, Mario will fall, and all the Luiginoids will disappear that were on the hammer. Also, if the player has 3/4 of the Luiginoids on the hammer, the forming hammer will begin to tilt, causing Mario to lose his balance. It is possible to resume the attack if the player makes Mario fall, and Mario will resume to the attack, however, if there were 1/2 of Luiginoids on the hammer before mario fell, the other standing Luiginoids will continue, but the attack will be incomplete and result in a weak attack.

As seen in the picture, if the player is successful to place on Luiginoids on the hammer, forming a hammer, will result in the "Excellent" attack.
