Smart Bombs are red colored explosive created by the Koopa Troop that were featured in the Nintendo Comics System issue, "Duh Stoopid Bomb!".
The Smart Bombs are actually more chemical weapons then simple explosives, releasing an intelligence rising gas when they detonate.
It is unknown why Bowser commisioned the creation of Smart Bombs, though he may have done it in order to counteract the effects of the stupifeing Stupid Bombs incase they backfired on the Koopa Troop.
