The '''New Year's Tour''' was the eighty-sixth tour of ''[[Mario Kart Tour]]'', which began on December 28, 2022 and ended on January 10, 2023. It was rerun from December 27, 2023 to January 9, 2024 as the game's hundred-and-twelfth tour. It introduced the R/T variants of multiple returning [[classic course]]s, namely [[GBA Sky Garden]], [[GBA Cheep-Cheep Island]], [[GBA Bowser's Castle 3]], [[GCN Baby Park]], [[Wii Koopa Cape]], and [[3DS Piranha Plant Slide]], making this the first tour since the [[Vancouver Tour]] seventy-five tours prior to introduce three or more R/T variants of returning courses, as well as the first tour since the [[Samurai Tour]] twenty tours prior to only introduce R/T variants and no brand new courses, and the first tour since the [[Toad vs. Toadette Tour]] thirty tours prior to only feature R/T variants (excluding the battle courses). [[Kadomatsu]] also returned from the previous [[New Year's Tour|New Year's-themed tours]], starting from January 1, 2023.

This was the first tour since the [[Singapore Tour]], the first tour that began in 2022 (twenty-five tours prior), to feature [[SNES Mario Circuit 1]]. It was also the first tour since the Samurai Tour, twenty tours prior, to feature [[DS Waluigi Pinball]], as well as the first tour since the [[Yoshi Tour (2022)|2022 Yoshi Tour]], nineteen tours prior, to feature [[3DS Rainbow Road]].

This tour featured the most repeated courses of any tour, with twenty-two courses being repeated. [[3DS Daisy Hills|3DS Daisy Hills R/T]] was the only course in the tour that was not repeated.

The [[Coin Rush (Mario Kart Tour)|Coin Rush]] course for this tour was [[N64 Kalimari Desert]], which was previously the case in both the [[Wild West Tour]] and the [[Los Angeles Tour (2021)|2021 Los Angeles Tour]]. The menu's background featured some beanstalks and a [[Toad House]] from GBA Sky Garden as the landmark for this tour, which was reused from the [[Sky Tour]].

The Holiday Celebration continued from the [[Holiday Tour (2022)|previous tour]] and ended in this tour. The tour featured a new set of Premium Challenges exclusive to this tour called the Gold Premium Challenges, which allowed the player to fire four golden pipes and receive a total of 42 rubies. Completing all of the challenges rewarded players with the [[Gold Hard Hat Balloon]]. Similar to the [[New Year's 2022 Tour]] and the [[Bangkok Tour]], every day of this tour featured either the Coins Aplenty or Tokens Aplenty event. Tokens Aplenty was held on the third and ninth day of the tour (Friday, December 30, 2022 and Thursday, January 5, 2023), while Coins Aplenty was held on all other days, gradually upgrading over time and allowing players to receive over 20,000 [[coin]]s by participating every day. The tour also featured an upgraded [[#Token Shop|Token Shop]] with items like High-End [[level-boost ticket]]s and a golden High-End pipe. Additionally, all [[Mii|Mii Racing Suits]] in the [[#Mii Racing Suit Shop|Mii Racing Suit Shop]] had a discount on their first purchase.

For the first half of the tour, players could receive the [[Mii|Black Mii Racing Suit]] and the [[Purple Dozer]] for placing high in the ranked cups. The second half of the tour featured the [[Mii|? Block Mii Racing Suit]] (which returned as a ranked reward for the third time; the second was the [[Sundae Tour (2022)|2022 Sundae Tour]] ten tours prior) and [[Toad (species)|Green Toad (Pit Crew)]] as high placement rewards.

The twelfth set of [[List of challenge cards in Mario Kart Tour#Expert Challenges|Expert Challenges]] was introduced in this tour. Unlike previous Expert Challenges cards, this set lasted for seven tours instead of six, until the end of the [[Ninja Tour (2023)|2023 Ninja Tour]].

This tour's trailer featured falling red and white confetti during its opening splash screen. This was also the first and only tour to include confetti at the end of the trailer after the gameplay, as well as the last tour to include a black background; starting from the [[Space Tour (2023)|2023 Space Tour]], the trailers include a white background.

This is the first rerun tour to alter the available paid banners from its original run.

Players' most recently used kart and glider are chosen, and favorite and favored ones have extra priority. Opponents are arranged randomly. On day 1 of this tour, players finish a balloon battle in [[GBA Battle Course 1]] in the [[Mii Cup]] using the [[Mii|Nabbit Mii Racing Suit]] for a free pipe launch. Starting from day 2, players have to finish a race in the earliest incomplete course that is not in any of the ranked cups using the driver shown on the course's thumbnail every day to obtain the corresponding reward in the table below. Once all of the courses are completed, the courses are selected at random.
