|Donkey Kong 64 is the first and so far only 3D platformer in the Donkey Kong franchise, released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999. It acts as a successor to the original three Donkey Kong Country games. In this game the player can play as one of five Kongs; Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong, and Chunky Kong. In this game, King K. Rool is trying to destroy the DK Isles. The five Kongs try to stop King K. Rool. The player collects a large amount of items during the game. This game also has several minigames as well as a multiplayer mode.

|Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is a sidescrolling platformer like the Donkey Kong Country games and involves collecting bananas and getting help from Animal Friends (here called "Jungle Buddies"), but otherwise has many deviations from them. In it, a more aggressive Donkey Kong battles to be the strongest in the jungle, but it otherwise has little plot. The DK Bongos from the Donkey Konga games are compatible as an alternate controller. A version on the Wii titled New Play Control! Donkey Kong Jungle Beat gave the game a bit more story and added some other Donkey Kong Country elements, such as Barrel Cannons and the Hand Slap.
